Lost DREAMs due to living in FEAR

A story is told there once was this criminal who had committed a crime (Because, hey, that’s what criminals do. That’s their job!) Anyway, he was sent to the king for his punishment. The king told him he had a choice of two punishments. He could be hung by a rope. Or take what’s behind the big, dark, scary, mysterious iron door. The criminal quickly decided on the rope. As the noose was being slipped on him, he turned to the king and asked: “By the way, out of curiosity, what’s behind that door?” The king laughed and said: “You know, it’s funny, I offer everyone the same choice, and nearly everyone picks the rope.” “So,” said the criminal, “Tell me. What’s behind the door? I mean, obviously, I won’t tell anyone,” he said, pointing to the noose around his neck. The king paused then answered: “Freedom, but it seems most people are so afraid of the unknown that they immediately take the rope.”
We are all at one point of time faced with fear in our lives, the greatest is the fear of the unknown. Just like the criminal he was not sure when given the two options and because of fear his option was to take the rope. With the recent COVID-19 a lot of fear has griped many people to the point that if one tests COVID-19 positive it like a death sentence has been proclaimed upon them because the virus came at a point when there was no cure for it. I remember the day I was a contact of a COVID-19 positive client I would tell you I had all this kind of fear that I actually started feeling sick counting the days for the signs to appear which actually didn’t appear. When I went to take the test it was like it was the end of the world had come.
So what is fear, Merriam dictionary. defines fear as an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger. From the definition there is evidence of anticipation that something is going to happen but yet it has not happened. Someone defined fear as FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL. Just like the criminal he was not sure what was behind the iron door, Most often that is what fear does it gives this feeling that one will not come out of the situation, imagine what the criminal was wondering.
Each of us has aspirations in life but most time we are fail to pursue them because of fear, fear of the unknown, rejection, loss and yet if we had that step of faith to believe that it’s possible to take the that one step then will light appear and the end of that tunnel. I love hiking but the process one goes through to get to the top requires determination and the joy that comes when one makes it to the top. Most time dreams are never achieved because of fear. Even when there is an effort to start doubt comes in like how the criminal felt and he chose what he could see than what he couldn’t yet freedom was being offered.
Today I would like you to choose FAITH over FEAR. Some of us may be leaving our fears and lost on our dreams. What is the Dream you have had but have failed to pursue it due to fear. Today I dare you to try and pursue it, if it won’t take away your life then why fear to pursue it. Recognize: When nothing changes, then nothing changes. Lastly Remember: Opening up doors to the unknown is the only way to ensure you’re headed towards new opportunities, freedom, growth, and greater joy. You’ll see. Hope this was helpful.
