What is your ahah-Defining true purpose in Life

It is half way the year and I guess you are wondering what have I achieved for this year. Year in year out we do make resolutions, basically things we do like to achieve by end of year. The year 2021 has been quiet challenging with the different waves of COVID-19 making a shift in the way of living. There has been hardship in all spheres of life, some have lost loved ones, some have been hospitalised, job losses, businesses closed the list goes on and on.

While this has been happening others have made great strides, ideas have been birthed who knew that collaboration apps like zoom, Microsoft teams would be used to connect people. The latest news was seeing two of the richest men going out to space, quite interesting but there is something to learn about these people. One could say these individuals found their purpose in life and there are having a state of flow. Regardless of the situation they find themselves out of the hardships and even come out stronger.

If you read each of these peoples biography, it doesn’t show that they came from well to do families or even had the best education actually they dropout at some point. What makes these people quite different from most of us. We actually have the same hours of the day, breathe the same oxygen and they even live amongst us. Today I was speaking to a young man who was discouraged with life, the lock down had affected his study plan and the 3 years course seems going to 4 years or more and all his hope has gone. We had a discussion and I asked him what he has it came out that the young man has plenty of up country land. Actually he is better off than other people who have nothing to start with. Sometimes we sit on wealth and lament on how life has not been fair to us.

Through life journey of personal discovery we make efforts to see ourselves get to that point of life fulfilment. Most likely there’s that exciting bit of life where one gets to that ahah moment where they get to find out their true life purpose. Peter Bensons mentions of the spark of life. It’s quite important for one to find that spark of life. He again goes ahead to mention of the 3 kinds of sparks;

skill or talent

Do you have a talent you have not put to use?

commitment to social justice

Are you committed to stewardship?

Quality

Are you gifted at reaching out?

Most of the greatest innovators, best writers, sport men and women, these discovered their spark in life. So how does one get to that ahah moment. Usually there are things that come out easily for us when we do them and we are passionate about them these don’t need vocational training. Most times we look at innovation coming from outside in yet it’s the reverse. Does this sound familiar with you? Guess you hear people say I was good this at my early age, or I love nature usually our inner bit of life is communicating something to us. Most times we ignore it. Don’t ignore that inner calling.

This spark in life can equally be related to the IKIGAI. Ikigai is a Japanese’s concept that combines the terms IKI meaning alive or life and GAI meaning benefit or worth as illustrated below.

I hope this has been very insightful to give you a glimpse towards personal discovery. Feel free to connect with us in our pact series of Self mastery program.
